My name is Amal Al Sadi, and I am the founder and CEO of VineTechs, a software house specializing in mobile app development. My journey in the tech industry began with a deep fascination for computers in the tenth grade, where I was captivated by a class on the programming language Logo and an inspiring book in Arabic about computers by Dr. Mousa Nasir. This passion led me to pursue a degree in Computer Science at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, from which I graduated in 1996.
Following my graduation, I embarked on a career at Eskadenia Software in Jordan, starting as a junior developer and eventually becoming a development manager for a unit focused on telecom products. Leading a team of 17 members, I gained extensive experience in software development and project management. My love for reading and staying updated with the latest trends in business and technology has been a constant throughout my career.
As a seasoned technopreneur with over 23 years of hands-on experience, I have established myself as a leading authority in telecommunications, mobile software development, software design, digital transformation, blockchain technologies, AI, ML, cloud computing, Web 3.0, and cybersecurity. My journey has been marked by numerous digital transformation projects where I have applied my extensive knowledge to drive innovation and efficiency.
In 2014, I fell in love with blockchain technologies and kept studying it, getting certified in its network and architecture. In 2023, I found an online master’s program in Blockchain Technologies from the University of Barcelona. Without any doubts, I enrolled in the program and graduated this summer with the highest grade and the best thesis. My academic pursuits complement my professional achievements, reinforcing my position as a thought leader in blockchain and related technologies.
Throughout my career, I have excelled in business analysis, process improvements, technology transfer, strategy development, and project management. My proficiency in mobile design and development, embedded systems, microservices, API integration, orchestration, JAVA, J2EE, EJB, SaaS, and PaaS has enabled me to lead several successful digital application projects.
Working with a diverse range of business areas, I drive innovation and strategic positioning while supporting business development activities with technical expertise in product concept development, customer relations, and proposal activities. In 2014, I founded VineTechs, realizing my dream of creating a company dedicated to mobile app development.
Before establishing VineTechs, I spent 14 years as a staff software engineer and department manager at ESKADENIA Software, significantly contributing to the development of various software solutions. I received my B.Sc. degree from Princess Sumaya University for Technology, where I was honored by HRH Princess Sumaya for being the most distinguished student in 2000.
Beyond my professional success, I am actively involved in social initiatives aimed at improving lives, health, and culture. Notably, in 2014, I participated in an expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro with my Jordanian colleagues to raise funds for the King Hussein Cancer Center extension.
The Leap into Entrepreneurship
From a young age, I dreamed of building my own empire in software, inspired by well-known entrepreneurs like Elia Nuqul. Growing up, I often heard about his success story from my family, detailing how he started from a tissue paper factory and built a vast business conglomerate. This inspiration planted the seed of ambition in me to create something impactful in the tech industry.
After spending 14 years at Eskadenia Software and participating in an expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro, I met several business owners among my fellow climbers. They constantly encouraged me to start my own venture, questioning why I hadn’t already taken the plunge. As we trekked up the mountain, I pondered this decision deeply. The idea of founding my own company crystallized in my mind, and by the time I returned home, I was ready to turn this dream into reality.
Of course, the fear of failure was ever-present. The prospect of leaving a stable job to start my own business was daunting. However, I reminded myself that every great achievement begins with taking a risk. I focused on the potential impact I could make and the vision I had for my company. By planning meticulously and seeking advice from mentors, I built the confidence needed to embark on this entrepreneurial journey.
Starting my own company came with its fair share of challenges. One of the most significant hurdles was securing funding and finding the right talent to employ. Fortunately, one of my fellow climbers from the Mount Kilimanjaro expedition believed in my vision and offered to help fund the company. She also provided me with a small office space to begin my journey.
In the early stages, I focused on securing my first customer. Initially, the projects were small, and I handled them personally, ensuring each one was delivered with the utmost care and quality. These small projects were crucial in building my reputation and credibility.
The turning point came when I landed my first substantial project. This milestone enabled me to hire a team of four developers, marking the beginning of the growth phase for my company. By carefully managing resources, delivering exceptional service, and leveraging my network for referrals, I navigated these early challenges.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected cash flow challenges, which forced me to temporarily freeze the company's operations. This period was incredibly difficult, but it also reinforced the importance of resilience and adaptability. During this time, I focused on planning and strategizing for the future, ensuring that VineTechs would emerge stronger once the situation improved.
My journey taught me that perseverance, strategic networking, and unwavering commitment to quality are essential in overcoming obstacles. Each challenge was an opportunity to learn and grow, ultimately strengthening my resolve and paving the way for future successes.
Successes and Milestones
Over the years, VineTechs has achieved numerous milestones, significantly shaping my career and the company's trajectory. One of our earliest major successes was securing substantial projects that expanded our reach beyond Jordan to the Gulf region, the United States, and Canada. These projects not only validated our capabilities but also established VineTechs as a reliable and innovative player in the global tech landscape.
One particularly notable achievement was our collaboration with a leading telecom company in the Gulf, where we developed a state-of-the-art mobile application that enhanced user experience and increased customer engagement. This project garnered significant attention and led to further opportunities in the region.
In the US and Canada, we worked with several startups and established firms, delivering tailored software solutions that met their unique needs. Our work in these markets underscored the versatility and quality of our services, leading to long-term partnerships and a steady stream of referrals.
Another key milestone was the development and launch of an award-winning app that received recognition at a prestigious international tech conference. This accolade not only boosted our reputation but also opened doors to new markets and clients.
These successes have been instrumental in shaping VineTechs' growth and my personal development as a leader. They have reinforced the importance of innovation, quality, and customer-centricity in all our endeavors.
