Zaid El Shair

Zaid El Shair completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer
Engineering in the academic year 2017/2018, achieving the top rank
in his class.
He took part in the 4+2 combined program between PSUT and the
University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-D) during his senior year. He
was hired as a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) after his first year
at UM-D and got a full tuition scholarship for both his Master’s and
Ph.D. degrees. Shortly after, in the summer of 2019, he obtained his
Master’s degree in computer engineering and is now pursuing his
Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering (EECE),
which he expects to complete by the summer of 2023.
During his time at UM-D, Zaid has authored over 10 research papers
in different domains such as computer vision and embedded
systems, interned twice at Ford Motor Company in the Research and
Advanced Engineering team, and was awarded the Distinguished GSI
award in 2022 for his excellence in teaching as a graduate student.
